New BMW 4 Series Coupé - Kidney Punches

By Brent vd Schyff

BMW unveiled the all-new 4 series Coupé earlier yesterday, digitally in what is becoming the new norm across the board. In what BMW is increasingly adamant about is that dynamic driving pleasure is being doubled down on and from what we can see, they’re meaning business, despite the kidney grill dilemma.

Whilst the BMW fanbase is frantically busy sharpening up their pitchforks for a town discussion and a possible burning at the stake, I wish to you remind that at times, designers see things we don’t, through visions. That is the design process and philosophy.

Back to business - The flagship model is the M440i xDrive Coupé until the M4 arrives, at which point the mass panic should be at mild level…dare I say admirable level. The M440i is powered by an inline 6 cylinder engine. All model entrants have the eight-speed Steptronic transmission.

Despite the looks, let’s look at the things that count…The new 4 Series will be wider, lower, have more camber on the front wheels and have perfect 50:50 weight balance. All the magic, that contributes towards superior handling.

We’re a little bit wary when it comes to change but heck, 2020 is a weird one anyway. Why not go with this one?

I’m giving the 4 Series a chance and so should you. The 4 Series will be available in South Africa in November.
